In discussion with the client, each of our practitioners will complete a thorough history related to your injury, perform an appropriate physical examination and then determine a specific, individual treatment plan, to achieve your required goals.

Sports Physiotherapy

With several APA Sports Physiotherapists on staff you will benefit from state of the art management of your sports injuries. This includes a thorough initial assessment, accurate diagnosis, an individualised rehabilitation program (utilising our on-site gymnasium) and a graduated return to sport exercise program, to enable an efficient and successful return to your sporting demands. In order to achieve this, physiotherapy services may include the appropriate provision of:

  • soft tissue mobilisation (massage)
  • joint mobilisation / manipulation
  • muscle stretching
  • muscle strengthening / conditioning, including core stability & swiss ball  exercises
  • proprioceptive / balance exercises
  • biomechanical assessment & correction of movement
  • sports strapping & bracing
  • graduated & progressive return to sport rehabiliatation programs
  • ergonomic assessment & posture correction

Sports Podiatry

Is the health profession dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of lower limb biomechanical-related injuries to athletes. Using the latest in biomechanical computer software and extensive experience in lightweight orthotic design maintenance, our podiatrist provides a very effective approach to friendly footwear for everyone. Please note that shiropetry is not performed in this practice.

Associated with this service is the local running store, Running Science (www.runningscience.com.au), that provides professional advice on the best running shoe for each individual and their respective demands.

Massage Therapy

Regular massage is beneficial to assist in the recovery of an existing soft tissue injury or as preventative treatment, allowing the muscles to rest, relax, revive and recover from the daily demands we place upon them, during our sport and activities of daily living.  You can incorporate massage into your physiotherapy program or you can book a direct appointment.  Our experienced therapists can perform a variety of different massages, including remedial, therapeutic or sports, depending on your desires!

Personal Strength & Conditioning Programs

With extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics of movement and injuries, physiotherapists are experts in exercise prescription.  We can create a customized strength and conditioning program specific to your goals and lifestyle, either to maximize your recovery from injury, for future injury prevention or improve your general fitness and posture.

Nutrition

Improving your individual health and well-being for the demands of daily life and exercise is dependent on optimal nutritional advice. A healthy diet has to be one that is enjoyable, practical, realistic and sustainable in the long term. Our staff are able to educate you accordingly for your individual goals, whether for assisting the recovery of injuries, improve your energy levels or for weight management, so as to optimise your energy levels and performance.

Group / Class Services

  

1.   Get Fit 2 Ski

Is a six week program of ski-specific exercises designed to improve your fitness, strength, coordination, balance and reaction time.  This will allow you to maximize your ski fitness and prevent avoidable ski injuries in your upcoming ski season.  The program commences in June each year and requires you to register with our administration office, as places are limited due to space and safety requirements.

2.  Hydrotherapy

Is a physiotherapy based exercise program in water, designed to use the properties of water (buoyancy, warmth and resistance) to relieve pain, decrease joint stiffness, strengthen muscles and improve your cardiovascular fitness.  Hydrotherapy can assist people with arthritic (and other inflammatory conditions), painful joints, joint replacement, back/neck pain and general musculoskeletal injuries. Each seminar can be modified for groups of any size, with interactions, demonstrations and active audience participation encouraged.  Seminars are individually tailored for sporting clubs, corporate employers, student groups, community centres and schools.  Fees for seminars are available upon request with our administration staff.
