NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2008
NEW PRACTICE MANAGER:
Balmain Sports Physiotherapy has recently welcomed a new practice
manager, Venessa Nickless, to our team. Venessa has travelled and
worked around the world as a Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor
and is currently studying kinesiology.
She
joins us from BodyGO Pilates and Fitness Studio in Balmain, so may be
recognised by some of her clients. Originally from Manchester in
England, she is now more than happy to be back in sunny Sydney!
She
is also currently training for The New York Marathon in November this
year. It is her first marathon and she is raising money for The Red
Cross which you can donate to by visiting www.justgiving.com/venessa or bringing $$$ in when you come for a treatment. Any donations will be MUCH appreciated, and hopefully help her run faster!!!
PODIATRY:
Emily
joined the Balmain Sports Physiotherapy team in 2008 as the resident
sports podiatrist, following Brett Reynish’s successful change in
career - he has become a qualified pilot!
Emily
has continued the excellent podiatry service to our clients by
providing comprehensive lower limb assessments, gait analysis, footwear
advice and the prescription of customised orthotics as needed, to
assist in the management of a large range of lower limb injuries (i.e.
knee, shin, ankle and foot pain / dysfunction). This is done in
conjunction with your treating physiotherapist, to ensure that we
maximize your injury recovery time!
A
Saturday morning podiatry clinic (8.00am – 2.00pm) has also recently
commenced, allowing those that are too busy during the week with work /
family / sporting commitments, the possibility to make an appointment
at a more convenient time.
Have you got a pain in your neck? ….. Or are you in need of a good nights sleep?
A
reminder that Balmain Sports Physiotherapy stocks a number of
therapeutic pillows including Family Pillows and Complete Sleeprrr
Original and Memory Foam. Contact the practice on 98181004 to arrange
for a pillow assessment or speak to your physiotherapist.
Cost = $69 - $89
PRODUCT OF THE MONTH – ICE WRAP:
Cold application has been shown to reduce pain, swelling and muscle spasm. Ice Wrap provides an effective and safe way to treat sports injuries. The Ice Wrap
is held in place by a neoprene Velcro cover which has Velcro elastic
straps to attach directly onto the cover. This method not only gives
the user a great method of icing for various body parts but also allows
for a good compression over the injured area.
Cost = $40 (large) or $35 (small)
